5th Grade Strings is a beginner orchestra class where students learn to play the violin, viola or cello. This group meets all year long. If students complete the year successfully, they may be placed in an intermediate orchestra class when they go to middle school.
Nichols Strings: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:30PM

WINTER PARTY:
DATE: Thursday, December 3rd
LOCATION: Nichols Music Room
PICK UP AT: 5:00pm
OTHER INFO: Students will eat pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and drink soda. They may bring snacks for themselves or snacks to share with the group. Pickup is at the bus loop at 5PM.
WINTER CONCERT:
DATE: Tuesday, December 8th
LOCATION: Nichols Cafeteria
STUDENTS ARRIVE AT: 5:00PM and meet in the music room
STUDENTS PERFORM AT: 5:30PM
WHAT TO WEAR: Nichols school shirts, Blue jean pants, Close Toed Shoes. Students that are also in choir will wear their choir shirts.
OTHER INFO: Students must go home and return by 5PM. If your child is in learning tree, you must let Learning Tree know that they should go to the music room at 5PM. I am not able to pull students from Learning Tree.
STEVENSON WINTER CONCERT:
DATE: Friday, December 11th
LOCATION: Stevenson MS Cafeteria
STUDENTS ARRIVE AT: 5:00PM and meet in the Stevenson MS Library
STUDENTS PERFORM AT: 6:00PM
WHAT TO WEAR: Nichols school shirts, Blue jean pants, Close Toed Shoes

SOLO SPRING PERFORMANCES:
DATE: TBD
LOCATION: Nichols Music Room
TIME: During regular String Rehearsal after school
OTHER INFO: Students will perform one of their Spring Concert pieces as a solo, to be judged by me, for performance feedback. If possible, they should wear concert black (black slacks/pants, black skirts/dresses, black shirts/blouses, with black shoes and socks. Please don't feel the need to purchase a concert black outfit for just for this event. If concert black is not available, then students should dress their best. This event is not open to parents or an audience. This experience will prepare them for when they perform at these type of events in middle and high school. Students will earn a medal which will be given towards the end of the year.

STUDENTS ARRIVE AT: 5:00PM and meet in the music room
STUDENTS PERFORM AT: 5:30PM
WHAT TO WEAR: Elrod school shirts, Blue jean pants, Close Toed Shoes. Students that are also in choir will wear their choir shirts. Students that are in both choir and dance will come to the concert in their choir shirt and change into their dance shirts later.
OTHER INFO: Students must go home and return by 5PM. If your child is in learning tree, you must let Learning Tree know that they should go to the music room at 5PM. I am not able to pull students from Learning Tree.
